The fortress is located 3 km north-west of the Tmbadir fortress, on a rocky hill, occupying an area of about two hectares. Residents of Achajur call the fortress St. Hovhannes. The western slopes of the hill have a large incline, therefore they were not fortified, and the eastern part was fortified with a fortress wall up to 2 meters thick and 1 m high․ In the northern corner of the fortress, there is the chapel of St. Hovhannes, after which the fortress is called. It is possible that this part of the fortress had an entrance. This small fortress was of defensive importance, where livestock was hidden when the invaders attacked the inhabitants.
