“Telik” is a company promoting traditional branches of handicraft art. It operates in two dimensions: creation of handicraft pieces and master classes. “Telik” is engaged in various branches of handicraft art: carpet weaving, needlework, knitting, batik, silk weaving, and needlework. It aims to revive the art of handicrafts and offer jobs to women in Tavush.
What does “Telik” offer?
The main emphasis is on create a carpet using “Shulal” (baste) technique, to restore its traditions and make it recognizable. Various carpets are made using the “Shulal” technique, starting from cup coasters (10x15cm2) to floor mats (150-200cm2), tablecloths, pillows, bags. They specifically highlight the Armenian designs, while preserving the traditional colors and providing modern solutions. As this technology evolved, in 2021 the “Shulal” carpet was included in the list of intangible cultural values of RA. Telik also creates tablecloths, kitchen towels, purses, silk scarves and hats, batik shirts and bags embroidered with the Aintap sewing technique.
Where are handmade art samples born?
“Telik” has been operating since 2016 initiated by Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of Tavush Diocese, and is in the Presbytery building. At “Telik”, they will offer you to tour in the center, watch the craftsmen creating handmade pieces, familiarize with the displayed samples and the history of Tavush handicraft.
Who are the “Telik” courses for?
“Telik” holds master classes for everyone – individuals and visitor groups, presenting crafts of Tavush. During 1.5-2 hour sessions, visitors learn the type of handicraft they like under guidance of the master, and they take what they made as a souvenir.
How to get “Telik” products?
Telik pieces can be seen and purchased both on site and online, with an option of delivery. You can also pay as you wish – in cash, by card or transfer, in AMD or equivalent foreign currency.
