Geography
The rich nature of Tavush and the historical and cultural monuments, as well as myths, are everywhere. Berd got its name from the Tavush fortress located here, which is also called Tslik Amram fortress. It is a medieval structure on the right bank of the Tavush River on the outskirts of Berd, Tavush region. Tavush Fortress is mentioned for the first time since the beginning of the 10th century as the residence of Ashot Yerkat. One of the specificities of the castle was that the building had its own water supply. As the fortress has been abandoned since the 14th century, the year of its foundation is not known.
